9th Annual Coat Drive
Nine years ago we started a partnership with Master Cleaners to get coats and jackets that were not being used out of the closets around Great Bend and onto the backs of those in our community who would use them. Of course, our main focus was to get them to those who don't have coats, but our community has been so generous each year that everyone is welcome to come and 'shop'.
We will again be collecting gently used coats and jackets throughout September. They can be dropped off at Master Cleaners, Trinity United Methodist Church or any of the Great Bend schools. Master Cleaners will clean them. On October 5th we will open our doors for anyone who wants to come get a used coat for FREE. We never know what we will have to choose from, but we generally have 500+ coats and jackets to choose from. We generally don't have a lot of children's coats or plus sizes, so if you need those come early for the best selection.
Live Like Jesus Today, an organization from Ellinwood who works with homeless in Wichita, will pick up the items that are left and will distribute them to the homeless in Wichita.
Lincoln School Food Bank
We will be collecting items to help our friends at Lincoln School. They can use the packages of easy to grab snacks for those who come to school hungry - such as snack crackers and granola bars. Items with fiber and protein help them feel full longer.
They can also use pairs of sweat pants or leggings for kids who need to change clothes due to an accident or spill.
Trinity has a long-standing history of helping the food bank. We have members who have served on the board of directors for years as well as a number of members who volunteer on a regular basis. We collect food, clean used bags, coupons and monetary donations year round.
